Over $1.7 million in grants awarded in the 115th Legislative District

Rep. Maureen Madden, D-Monroe, has announced that over $1.7 million in grant funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority will support multiple renovation projects within her district.

Madden said that the following projects in her district have been awarded funding:

  • $500,000 to Pocono Center for the Arts to create a center for the visual and performing arts.
  • $300,000 to Pocono Mountains Industrial Park Authority for infrastructure improvements to exits 298-299.
  • $396,561 to Pocono Township for the first outdoor gym in Monroe County (TLC Park).
  • $137,818 to Middle Smithfield Township to create a new park in the township.
  • $155,400 to Stroud Township to rehabilitate two water storage tanks.
  • $140,490 to Pocono Township/Stroudsburg Borough to purchase water leak detection and monitoring equipment.
  • $150,000 to Suburban Medical Emergency Services for power emergency stairs for ambulances.

"These grants underscore our shared commitment to returning gaming revenues to local communities,” said Madden. “Investments in regional parks, infrastructure improvements, first responders and the arts help strengthen communities and inspire community pride."

The PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support projects in public interest within Pennsylvania. Eligible projects include acquisition, construction, renovation and rehabilitation, demolition, infrastructure, purchase of vehicles, machinery and equipment, planning, consulting and design costs related to projects, engineering and some administrative costs.
