Madden announces over $1.2 million for local improvement projects

State Rep. Maureen Madden, D-Monroe, today announced the allocation of $1.26 million in funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Local Share Account program.

The grants include:

  • Coolbaugh Township: $300,000 for the renovation of building #2 at the municipal complex.
  • Monroe County Industrial Development Authority: $350,000 for the construction and inspection of a new well in Pocono Township.
  • Mount Pocono Municipal Authority: $305,808 to make a UV replacement and upgrade in Mount Pocono Borough.
  • Pocono Mountains Industrial Park Authority: $250,000 for traffic improvements in Pocono Township.
  • Middle Smithfield Township: $50,000 to complete a planning project that would develop plans for a safe and accessible downtown development district.

“Today’s announcement is another example of our ongoing efforts to ensure Monroe County gets its fair share of state funding,” Madden said. “It’s important that we bring those tax dollars back to our communities and invest them in the projects that matter most — from equipment upgrades and critical renovations to maintaining and improving our roads and bridges. These types of projects can place a significant strain on the budgets of our smaller municipalities, so securing state funding helps ease that burden on local taxpayers while allowing communities to make the improvements they need. I will continue working with our local and state partners to bring resources back to Monroe County and ensure our residents see real, tangible benefits from the tax dollars they contribute.”

The Local Share Account program is funded through revenue generated by gaming and is administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support projects that enhance economic development, public infrastructure and community vitality.
