Kulik secures $254,000 Solar for Schools grant for Carlynton Junior-Senior High School

CORAOPOLIS, May 20 – State Rep. Anita Kulik, D-Allegheny, announced today that Carlynton Junior-Senior High School was awarded $254,683 from the Solar for Schools Grant Program to support the school’s solar project.

“This funding is a win for Carlynton students and the entire community,” Kulik said. “It supports cleaner energy, lower long-term costs, and hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for the future. I’m proud to help bring these resources to our schools.”

The Solar for Schools Grant Program was created in July 2024 to reduce the cost of implementing solar energy systems into schools across the state. School districts, intermediate units, charter schools, technical schools and community colleges are eligible for the program. The funding may cover the purchase and installation of equipment, permit fees, energy storage and utility interconnection.

The grant was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. The CFA is an independent state agency that administers the Solar for Schools grant program, as well as other state economic stimulus packages.
