Mark your calendars! I will be hosting two free community identity theft protection events -- Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Bridgeville Fire Hall and Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Carnegie Borough Municipal Building. You’ll be able to have documents that may contain personal information shredded on site on both dates.

The event in October will also feature a medication drop-off through the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office D.U.M.P. program.

Thank you to the PA Fish and Boat Commission and the Pittsburgh Safe Boating Council for inviting me to their recent meeting. These two organizations were instrumental in helping move my bill, which gives municipalities better tools to address abandoned and derelict boats, all the way to the Governor’s desk to be signed into law.

They work tirelessly to keep our rivers and waterways safe and clean, and I’m truly grateful for their recognition of my efforts. I also appreciate the local media and everyone with the Safe Boating Council for helping bring attention to this important legislation. School is almost back, which means more kids will be walking, biking, and riding the bus each day. PennDOT and AAA are reminding all of us to slow down in school zones, put the phone away, and come to a complete stop at crosswalks and intersections.

Drivers are also reminded about the following:

• Brake for buses and abide by PA’s School Bus Stopping Law.
• Watch out for bicyclists and abide by PA’s 4-Foot Passing Law.
• Plan ahead by leaving early and modifying routes to avoid school zones unless necessary.

If your kids walk or ride the bus, take a few minutes to go over the safest route, where to cross the street, and what to do if there’s ever an emergency on the bus. Simple things—like making eye contact with drivers, staying in well-lit areas, and keeping headphones off near traffic—can help keep them safe and confident.

Applications are available for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Legislative Fellowship Program for the Spring 2026 semester, January through early April. This is an opportunity for students to gain work experience, education, and insight into the people, issues, and politics of the legislative process.

Fellows work out of the Capitol Building in Harrisburg, and are assigned to work in House standing committees or leadership offices. They receive compensation (which may also include college credit), draft and present their own legislation, attend meet-and-greets with public officials, and tour some of the Commonwealth’s historic public spaces.

Applications are due by Wednesday, October 1. See the program website to apply.

It was a privilege to join the ribbon-cutting for the new playground at Fairhaven Park in Kennedy Township.
