Year-round motorcycle inspections, scholarship opportunities for students and more!

YEAR-ROUND MOTORCYCLE INSPECTIONS NOW AVAILABLE

Good news for Pennsylvania motorcycle owners -- thanks to Act 149 of 2024, motorcycles can now be inspected year-round just like passenger vehicles. Previously, inspections were limited to March through October, but now, motorcyclists have the flexibility to schedule their inspection at any time of the year.

Annual motorcycle inspections are still required, and once your bike passes, the new safety inspection sticker will be valid for one year from the expiration of the previous sticker.

Visit PennDOT’s Motorcycle Safety webpage for more information.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus and its Foundation are now accepting applications for the 2025-26 James R. Roebuck Scholarship. Named after former Rep. James R. Roebuck, who was a member of the Caucus and an advocate for education, this scholarship offers $1,500 for tuition, fees, books, and school-related supplies or equipment. The application deadline is 5 p.m. April 5.

The PA House of Representatives Scholarship Program – administered through The Foundation for Enhancing Communities – is for graduating high school seniors who reside in Pennsylvania. TFEC awards two, four-year scholarships to high school seniors each year. The award consists of the value of one semester of tuition at the State System of Higher Education for each of four years.

The deadline to submit all materials is April 15.

Details on how to apply and submit required documents are available online at www.tfec.org or by clicking here.

PA INVASIVE REPLACE-IVE PROGRAM

The PA Invasive Replace-ive Program is a new initiative that will give homeowners and others the option to remove invasive trees and shrubs from their property and replace them with native plants. Doing so helps reduce the likelihood of these species becoming unwanted “escapees” into neighboring properties, parks, and forests.

Properties owners are encouraged to remove one or more invasive species and receive up to 5 FREE healthy, native, young replacement trees. Program events begin in May. Learn more here
