Krueger announces nearly $4.1 million in state grants for the 161st Legislative District

BROOKHAVEN, Jan. 22 — Nearly $4.1 million in state grant funds will support water and sewer infrastructure and pedestrian safety projects in the 161st Legislative District, state Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, announced today.

The funding comes from the Multimodal Transportation Fund and the PA Small Water and Sewer Program, both of which are administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

According to Krueger just over $1.2 million in grants were awarded under the PA Small Water and Sewer Program, to include the following projects:

  • $110,000 for the Henry Lane project, Phase II, Nether Providence Township
  • $125,000 for open trench repairs with the Southwest Delaware County Municipal Authority
  • $300,000 for stormwater inlet and pipe upgrades in Chester Township
  • $153,916 for manhole rehabilitation with the Southwest Delaware County Municipal Authority
  • $425,000 for Maris Run pipe relining and repairs in Upland Borough
  • $100,000 for the Sanitary Sewer I & I Abatement Program of the Central Delaware County Authority

“I’m proud to see these grants awarded to critical water and sewer projects throughout our area,” said Krueger. “These dollars will be put to good use maintaining, upgrading, and improving infrastructure needed to mitigate flooding, manage runoff, and keep our systems running efficiently.”

Over $2.8 million in grants were awarded under the Multimodal Transportation Fund, to include the following projects:

  • $500,000 for public safety and pedestrian safety enhancements along Powell Road and Bridgwater Road in Chester Township.
  • $514,000 for the Phase IV construction of an ADA sidewalk along Providence Road in Nether Providence Township.
  • $450,000 for sidewalk, curb and signal improvements along Upland Avenue in Upland Borough.
  • $1,400,000 for pedestrian safety improvements along MacDade Boulevard between School Lane and Morris Avenue in Ridley Township

“Investing in critical pedestrian safety upgrades throughout our district makes our neighborhoods more walkable and more accessible, improving business and community for everyone,” said Krueger. “When we make it easier for people to get around, we make it easier for people to meet their needs and connect with one another.”

The Commonwealth Financing Authority was established in 2004 as an independent agency to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus programs.
