Goughnour, Pisciottano announce $380,000 invested in Mon Valley projects

HARRISBURG, Nov. 18 – State Rep. Dan Goughnour, D-Allegheny, and State Sen. Nick Pisciottano, D-Allegheny, today announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority has awarded $380,000 to fund projects that will benefit the Mon Valley’s infrastructure and economy.

Grants from the Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund will fund five projects in the 35th Legislative District:

  • $25,000 to VC Waterfront Development for river access and barge construction.
  • $105,000 to White Oak Borough for construction of a veterans memorial.
  • $55,000 to Clairton Municipal Authority for storm sewer and road restoration.
  • $140,000 to the city of McKeesport for Renziehausen Park bandshell improvements.
  • $55,000 to Executive Building LLC for HVAC, plumbing and electrical upgrades.

“These are worthwhile projects that will benefit our area in many ways -- from infrastructure to recreation,” Goughnour said. “Investments like these will help keep the Mon Valley moving forward.”

“These grants are investments in our communities, and I’m proud to help bring these funds back to Allegheny County,” Pisciottano said. “From improving public facilities to supporting local job creation, GEDTF funding advances projects that make our region stronger and better prepared for future growth.”

Established in 2004 by the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, the GEDTF appropriates funds from gaming revenue to invest in economic development.
