This week, we remember the tragedy of September 11, 2001, as yesterday marked 24 years since that fateful day. We honor the innocent lives lost, the bravery of first responders, and the families who still carry the weight of that day. As we reflect, let us also recommit ourselves to unity, compassion, and service to one another.

Progress has been made towards finishing the overdue budget in Harrisburg this week. Now is the time to tell the Senate Republicans to show up for you – that the time to act is now. Ask your family, your friends, your coworkers, your employees and your program's participants to reach out to these GOP Senators. Tell them to pass a budget that works for YOU!

This week I joined my colleagues in the House Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Energy Committees to discuss sustainable agriculture and anaerobic digesters. Brett Reinford gave us a tour of his dairy farm on which he built an anaerobic digester. He combines cow manure and food waste to produce energy and fertilizer for the crops he grows on his farms that also feeds his cows. This creates a sustainable cycle for waste management and energy production. I was fascinated by this process and experience. Thank you to the Reinford Family for informing us of the work you do and for allowing us to tour your farm.

Policy Meeting for Attainable Housing
|
I was also able to join the Policy Committee for a roundtable this week hosted by Rep. Prokopiak that addressed the barriers to attainable housing for our families. Some of these barriers include varying zoning regulations and permitting process per municipality, lack of housing stock, lack of prevailing wages, and more. It was a fruitful conversation, and I will continue to work on addressing these barriers to make housing more attainable and accessible for everyone.

Policy Meeting to Lower Your Electric Bills
|
I also joined the Policy Committee in Warminster to identify the reason behind increasing electricity rates and discuss what can be done to save you money on your electric bills.
|
This past week I joined my colleague Representative Gillen in his district at the Owatin Creek Elementary School in Exeter School District for their announcement and celebration in receiving a Solar for Schools grant. The solar grant is intended to provide 100% of the School District’s energy needs during daylight hours. I am delighted that this award is being distributed in our community and look forward to the savings that this will bring to taxpayers.
