HARRISBURG, Nov. 12 – A $50.1 billion state budget passed by the House and Senate delivers for Erie County residents, workers and families – all without raising taxes, state Rep. Ryan Bizzarro announced.
“This budget puts people first,” Bizzarro said. “We increased funding for schools, expanded help for veterans, strengthened public safety, and made prescriptions more affordable for seniors — all while keeping taxes flat.”
Key budget highlights include:
- $565 million increase in school funding
- $40 million more for Special Education Funding.
- $28.5 million more for Early Intervention (preschool programs).
- $62.2 million invested in Violence Intervention and Prevention programs.
- $31.8 million in federal funding for State Veterans Homes operations.
“We’re putting more money back in the pockets of Erie County’s hard workers,” Bizzarro said. “Prices are still high from tariffs, and this new tax cut could mean $400 to $800 for eligible workers and families.”
The budget also addresses economic development, providing investments to attract new businesses, create jobs, and help our small businesses grow and prosper.
Programs created in the 2025-26 Fiscal Code include:
House Democrats also took aim at wasteful spending by overhauling cyber charter school funding, saving an estimated $178 million.
“This is a responsible, balanced budget that delivers real results for Erie County,” Bizzarro said.
