Bizzarro to host license plate replacement event in Erie

ERIE, JULY 26– Old and deteriorating license plates can be difficult to read and can lead to tickets on the road. That’s why state Rep. Ryan Bizzarro (D-Erie) is hosting an event to give Erie residents a chance to replace their hard-to-read license plate with a new one.
On Thursday, August 18th from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., drivers are invited to bring their license plates to Bizzarro’s district office in Erie, located at 1101 Peninsula Drive, Suite 213, Erie, PA 16505. An officer with the Millcreek Township Police Department will be on hand to check license plates and determine if a license plate needs to be replaced.
“One of my goals as state Representative is to make tasks like these as simple as possible. That’s why I’m bringing the Millcreek Police Department and community members together in one space and give people a chance to get their license plate checked and, if needed, replaced,” said Bizzarro. “It’s a good chance for drivers to potentially save themselves from a ticket down the road while establishing a good relationship with local law enforcement.”
PennDOT says a license plate is deemed illegible when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet or if the registration plate shows any blistering, peeling, discoloration or loss of reflectivity.
Along with their license plate, residents are also asked to bring their driver’s license and vehicle registration card. This is a free event, and no registration is required. Any questions can be directed to the district staff by calling (814) 835-2880.
