I ran into Speaker of the House Rep. Joanna McClinton and House Health Committee Chairman Rep. Dan Frankel this week in the Capitol Complex. I remain grateful for my colleagues who continue to bring their years of knowledge, and also the enthusiasm we all need, to continue searching for the changes needed to improve the lives of people across PA.
The House returned to Harrisburg for session this week. We voted to ensure older Pennsylvanians continue to have access to the state’s prescription drug programs, lowering the price of medications for seniors. We also passed legislation to make it easier and less expensive for heirs to claim property that is rightfully theirs. We passed a measure to end discrimination over hairstyle, and we passed a measure to help assist grandparents for short-term emergencies in helping care for grandchildren living with them. To see how we voted on all measures, go here.

TECHNOLOGY STRENGTHENS COMMUNITIES
|
I was honored to attend the 2025 Google State Policy Summit at their Chicago HQ earlier this month. So grateful for the chance to sit down with innovators, policy leaders, and problem-solvers from across the country to discuss how technology can strengthen our communities.
From digital security to economic opportunity, AI, energy, and data centers, the conversations were forward-thinking and focused on real solutions. I’m excited to bring these ideas back home and continue pushing for policies that move Pennsylvania to the forefront and into the future.

“Is there a doctor in the House?” In Harrisburg this week, yes, plenty!
If you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything. Erie is fortunate to have so much, thanks to the incredible people at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. It was great catching up with members of their leadership team today in Harrisburg to talk through ideas, challenges, and opportunities for our region. LECOM contributes over a billion dollars to the national economy — but even more importantly, they take bright students from around the world and help them become the skilled, compassionate doctors we need. I’m proud to display my 2023 honorary doctorate in my Harrisburg office, and even prouder to champion the great work LECOM is doing for Erie and beyond.

Thanks to the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association. As part of its 100th-anniversary celebration, the Pennsylvania News Media Association honored outstanding leaders advancing First Amendment and news media causes. I was one of the free speech champions inducted into their Hall of Fame over the weekend. I missed the gala, so I was presented with the award by PNA's Jan Murphy this week. My legislation, now law, prevents the wealthy from abusing the legal system by silencing critics through the filing of frivolous defamation lawsuits. The law has already been crucial in cases statewide, including one involving the President of the United States, and another involving Dog the Bounty Hunter.
Congratulations to all the honorees shaping the legacy of Pennsylvania news, and to PNA on their centennial of service!

POLICY WINS IN THIS YEAR’S BUDGET
|
From exploring the lack of affordability to economic development in our hometowns to the need to prepare for international events in 2025, the Policy Committee examined numerous topics that became part of this year’s budget.
We started the conversation, and this year’s budget delivers, in the form of making PA more focused on aiding small businesses and creating organizations to fight hunger and support families. You can read more here.

I will always advocate for you and local projects in Harrisburg. Our region is vital to the state’s economy, so I’ve gone to work to secure the state funding we need for local schools, seniors, veterans, improved housing and local businesses. I helped secure $92 million in funding for local projects during the 2023-24 session, and this year state funding for projects in our region has surpassed $18.6 million.
You sent me to Harrisburg to make sure our region has a voice at the table and receives the funding it needs to thrive.
