Kulik announces nearly $2 million in state grants for local projects

Funding will support park improvements, public services and infrastructure

CORAOPOLIS, Sept. 15 – Nearly $2 million in state grants through the Local Share Account program were awarded to seven local projects that will upgrade recreational facilities, public services and infrastructure throughout the 45th Legislative District, state Rep. Anita Kulik, D-Allegheny, announced today.

The funding was awarded as follows:

  • $150,000 to Bridgeville Borough to improve lighting at Chartiers Park.
  • $300,000 to Carnegie Borough for a roof replacement of its municipal building and the installation of an emergency generator to provide services to shelter residents in emergency situations throughout the year.
  • $50,000 to the Coraopolis Water and Sewer Authority to replace 180 service lines and appurtenances to ensure safe drinking water for residents.
  • $150,000 to Kennedy Township for a truck-mounted leaf vacuum system for township leaf collection.
  • $400,000 to McKees Rocks Borough for the first phase of the creation of a storm sewer separation system.
  • $325,000 to Neville Township for improvements to Memorial Park, including the construction of parking areas, a new recreational pavilion and connecting sidewalk, installing fencing and stormwater and site upgrades.
  • $546,693 to Robinson Township to construct a new pool house at the Clever Park Pool with upgraded restrooms and locker rooms and an expanded concession stand area.

"These projects support the things residents count on every day, from clean water to safe parks to reliable public buildings," Kulik said. "I'm proud to have helped secure this funding, and I look forward to seeing the impact it makes in our communities."

The Commonwealth Financing Authority approved the grants today. Local Share Account Program funding comes from the 2004 PA Racehorse Development and Gaming Act, which directs gaming revenue toward projects that serve the public interest across the state.
