Updates on My Bills This Week
|
The House has unanimously passed two bipartisan bills I introduced with Rep. Kristin Marcell, House Bills 75 and 76, that will make it easier for physician assistants to practice in Pennsylvania by eliminating the need for them to apply for redundant licenses. Both bills will now move to the Senate for consideration.

Preventive medical care is critical for a long and healthy life. Because of changes in federal policies, insurance coverage for evidence-based preventive medical care without patient financial responsibility is at risk.
That is why I am joining two of my colleagues, both fellow healthcare professionals, to introduce legislation that will protect insurance coverage of preventive medical care in Pennsylvania.

It was great to welcome to the State Capitol my summer interns – Evie, a rising junior at Marist University, and Ava, a rising junior at American University. It has been a pleasure to have you in our office. Thank you both for your hard work and service to the community, and I look forward to the remainder of your time with us this summer.

As we approach July 4th and our nation’s 250th birthday, I was honored to speak at a celebration hosted by the Asian Indian Americans of Central Pennsylvania in our State Capitol. I spoke of how my and my family’s immigrant story and that of the wider Indian-American community is in the best tradition of our creedal nation proclaimed by the Declaration of Independence.
|
I joined Rep. Jeremy Shaffer in presenting Dr. Michael Loughead, Hampton Township School District superintendent, with a House citation to mark his 40 years of service to our community as an educator.
Thank you for your leadership in giving a bright future to so many students and families in Hampton Township and beyond!

It is far past time that Pennsylvania enter the Audiology and Speech Language Pathology Interstate Compact. I was proud to join the Pennsylvania Speech-Language-Hearing Association to advocate for the passage of HB 80, my legislation that would allow Pennsylvania to join this crucial compact.
|
I had the opportunity to welcome members of the Pennsylvania Radiological Society to Harrisburg. Thank you to all the radiologists in the North Hills and Pennsylvania for your critical work to improve the health of our community.
