My Office’s Upcoming Shred Event

I will be hosting a free community shred event where you can bring papers to clear out your home and protect your privacy by securely disposing of sensitive documents.

We will be at Ohio Township Community Park (325 Nicholson Road, Sewickley) on Saturday, September 27, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., or until the truck is full. Please bring no more than two boxes of paper per car. Boxes will be returned to your car after the paper has been shredded.

Advocating for Better Healthcare in Washington

This week, I had the opportunity to travel to our nation’s capital to advocate for better healthcare policy for our community, state, and country. I met with two great friends and legislators, Congressmen Chris Deluzio and Ro Khanna, to discuss preventing millions of Americans from losing health insurance by extending the Affordable Care Act’s enhanced premium tax credits and protecting the affordability and accessibility of vaccines.

I then joined Dr. Vin Gupta and South Asian physician leaders from across the country on a panel at the IA Impact Summit, where we discussed the importance of advocacy among doctors and health professionals.

As a physician-legislator, I continue to fight for affordable and accessible healthcare for our community, for all Pennsylvanians, and for our fellow Americans.

Honoring a Local Outstanding Student Musician

Mikayla Berke, an eighth-grade student at Hampton Middle School, recently earned the highest score in Pennsylvania on a Level 3 practical violin performance examination administered by the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. This is her third time achieving the highest score for Pennsylvania at her level.

Congratulations to Mikayla on her hard work and dedication to performing!

Leading the Fight for Vaccine Access

Infectious diseases do not respect political boundaries or affiliations, and we have taken for granted that our ability to afford and access vaccines depends on having rational public health leaders at the federal level. I am thankful to Politico for covering my two bills that aim to protect and expand access to vaccines across our Commonwealth. You can read the article here.

Out at McCandless Community Day – and Other District Updates

Veena, our son, my staff, our volunteers, and I had a wonderful time at Community Day in McCandless, working alongside the staff of Congressman Chris Deluzio and Senator Lindsey Williams. Thank you to the municipal leaders and staff, first responders, vendors, volunteers, and the band and chorus students from North Allegheny School District for making this a great event.

It was a privilege to attend the inauguration of Dr. Christina Clark as President of La Roche University in McCandless and to deliver greetings on behalf of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Thank you for the invitation and for your commitment to advancing higher education in our community.

We are at a critical moment for the future of science and research policy, particularly regarding government funding. It was a pleasure to join Rep. Jeremy Shaffer and the Jewish Healthcare Foundation to discuss the importance of advocacy by the scientific community with graduate students from the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.
