Regulating Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
|
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing healthcare. But we must make sure its use is transparent, without bias, and secondary to and coupled with expert human decision making.
I recently sat down with PCN to discuss my bipartisan legislation that will do just that. You can watch this interview by clicking the above video.

Taking Part in a Discussion on Healthy Equity
|
I will be serving as a panelist for the American Cancer Society’s Virtual Series on Health Equity where we will be discussing the costs of cancer, and how legislation can break down barriers to care.
Among the areas of discussion will be my bipartisan legislation with Reps. Davidson, Khan, Kosierowski, Kuzma, Rigby, and Twardzik to require transparency on hospital-based financial assistance programs, House Bill 79, which passed the House with an overwhelming bipartisan majority. I will be joined on the panel by Matthew Deegan from the Office of Senator Judy Ward and Dr. Josie Badger.
This event will be held virtually on Wednesday, August 27th at 12:00 p.m., and information to register can be found here.

Celebrating India Day – and Other District Updates
|
Veena and I were thrilled to attend the India Day Celebration at the Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh hosted by the Indian Nationality Room Committee. As our only Indian-American State Representative, it is an honor to represent the vibrant Indian-American community in the North Hills, Western Pennsylvania, and across our Commonwealth.
Thank you to the Indian-American community who every day contributes to our community and state in healthcare, scientific research, education, business, the arts, and so much more.
|
We also enjoyed celebrating the third anniversary of the establishment of the Pittsburgh Chinmaya Amarnath in Mars, PA with fellow members of our region’s Hindu community. Thank you for the kind welcome and the opportunity to participate in this wonderful occasion.
|
I had the opportunity this week to visit VisAbility, a non-profit that focuses on helping those with visual impairments maximize their vision potential and integrate into the community through rehabilitation and employment opportunities.
Thank you for your vital work helping our community and taking the time to educate me on your work.

I joined Congressman Chris Deluzio and Rep. Tim O’Neal to meet with the Allegheny County Medical Society for their summer legislative update. We face many health care challenges in Pennsylvania, and it is critical that physicians and bipartisan legislators partner together on solutions for all Pennsylvanians.
