Opioid overdose awareness bill passes House
My legislation, in partnership with state Rep. Jamie Flick, that would create and disseminate materials integral to recognizing the signs of an opioid overdose and inform Pennsylvanians how to save the lives of their fellow citizens passed the PA House.
Rep. Flick has been a great partner on this legislation, and I want to thank him and my House colleagues for their support. I also want to thank the Stop the Judgment Project, led by neighbors of mine in Franklin Park.
I remain committed to doing everything in my power to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives in the opioid epidemic by turning this bill into law.

Supporting first responders statewide
I was happy to join Gov. Josh Shapiro, Lt. Governor Austin Davis, and fellow elected officials at the Mt. Lebanon Fire Department to advocate for investments in the state budget for firefighters.
As a physician-legislator, I will always stand with our first responders who protect us all.

The Allegheny County House Democratic Delegation will hold a community budget briefing alongside the chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Rep. Jordan Harris, next Monday, April 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Tony Deluca Room at the Penn Hills Library.
The briefing will include a public comment and question period, so I encourage neighbors to join us and learn more about our goals to get sufficient funding for all walks of life in PA.
Anyone who is unable to attend in person can view the briefing live on the 28th at this link.
I urge everyone with concerns about proposed cuts to Medicaid, the implementation of tariffs and resultant rising costs, the decimation of funding for scientific research and our universities, and attacks on immigration, due process, and our constitutional structure of government where no one person, not even the president, can unilaterally enact policies, to make their voice heard with our federal legislators.
The North Park Ice Rink will be holding hours for residents to acquire, complete, and return a mail-in ballot and to deposit ballots for the upcoming primary as well.
