Steele: $4.1 million in grants to benefit 11 projects in 33rd District

HARRISBURG, Jan. 20 — State Rep. Mandy Steele, D-Allegheny, today announced that more than $4.1 million in grants has been awarded for 11 projects that will benefit the 33rd Legislative District.

“I’m always happy to help any municipality secure state funding,” Steele said. “I realize our communities rely on funding like this, so any local officials should reach out to my office when they need it. The grants approved today will help pay for streetscape improvements and investments in water and sewer systems in our area.”

The recipients of each grant are:

  • Cheswick Borough: $1.1 million for the Pittsburgh Street streetscape.
  • O’Hara Township: $250,000 for Alpha Drive pedestrian improvements.
  • Sharpsburg Borough: $450,000 for Riverfront District connector road and streetscape improvements.
  • Fox Chapel Authority: $250,000 for metering infrastructure equipment and installation.
  • Blawnox Borough: $200,000 for a soft dig project.
  • Deer Creek Drainage Basin Authority: $121,550 for a manhole lining project.
  • Tarentum Borough: $463,490 for Davidson Street waterline replacement.
  • Fawn-Frazier Joint Water Authority: $422,120 for Burtner Road water tank renovations.
  • Harmar Water Authority: $254,600 for Freeport Road waterline replacement.
  • Harrison Township: $280,492 for Oak Manor Drive sanitary sewer realignment.
  • Springdale Township: $350,000 for Carson Street pump station elimination.

The grants were approved Tuesday by the Commonwealth Financing Authority from the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund or Small Water and Sewer program.
