Steele: $345,000 awarded for worthwhile local projects

HARRISBURG, Nov. 18 — State Rep. Mandy Steele, D-Allegheny, announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority awarded $345,000 to projects that will benefit the infrastructure and economy of the 33rd Legislative District.

Grants from the Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund will fund four projects in Steele’s district:

  • $75,000 to Southern Allegheny Valley Emergency Services for building improvements.
  • $85,000 to Harrison Hills Volunteer Fire Co. 169 for parking lot restoration.
  • $85,000 to Allegheny Valley North COG for roadway and curb maintenance.
  • $100,000 to Allegheny Valley North COG for an emergency generator.

“These are worthwhile projects that will benefit our local infrastructure and economy,” Steele said. “These are the kinds of investments we need to make to keep Allegheny County on the move.”

Established in 2004 by the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, the GEDTF appropriates funds from gaming revenue to invest in economic development.
