My annual Kids Safety Event last weekend was a success – we had a big crowd, gave away lots of bikes, helmets, back-to-school supplies, hung out with some of our great first responders, and made many kids happy for the afternoon! It was a great day. Thank you to Jess for organizing such a nice event and to the whole team for making it happen! Thank you to Harrison Township Police, Tarentum Borough Police, Hilltop Hose Company #3, Harrison Hills VFC #4 and our friends at the American Red Cross for always showing up for the community. And an extra thank you to Citizens Hose Fire for hosting us!

I had the opportunity to attend the East Deer Summer Celebration last week at the East Deer Memorial Park and had a blast with our community members. There was live music, games, food and so much fun for our families!

Eligible Pennsylvania veterans and their families can take advantage of the Veterans Temporary Assistance (VTA) Program, which provides up to $1,600 per year for essential needs such as rent, groceries, utility bills, and clothing during times of financial hardship.

Since its launch, the program—run by the PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA)—has awarded more than $7.4 million to more than 6,800 veterans and families across the state.

Eligible applicants include veterans with honorable or general discharges, those with service-connected disabilities, and surviving dependents of eligible veterans or service members who died in the line of duty.
