Celebrating our history
Last week at the Braddock’s Battlefield History Center, we celebrated the 200th anniversary of General Lafayette’s grand tour of the United States and his visit to Braddock’s Field. I presented a legislative citation to General Lafayette (center left), who was portrayed by actor Mark Marra. We were joined by Honorary French Consul of Pittsburgh, Mathias Barlat (center right).
We welcomed area history buffs, members of the Daughters and the Sons of the American Revolution, and local elected officials, including County Treasurer Erica Rocchi Brusselars. Col. George Washington even dropped by for a chat! Many thanks to the American Friends of Lafayette for their help in making this a wonderful event.
In other district news, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission recently hosted a great presentation, “Building Pennsylvania’s Beloved Community,” led by Executive Director Chad Dion Lassiter.
The PHRC provides many resources, including free conferences, webinars, and trainings, to educate people and organizations on social justice and civil rights. Visit this page to register for an event or request a training.
