Salisbury: $6 million secured for District 34 transportation projects, water and sewer improvements

BRADDOCK, Jan. 20 – Nearly $6 million in state funding is coming back to the 34th Legislative District to fund transportation improvements and support water, stormwater and sewer infrastructure projects, state Rep. Abigail Salisbury announced today.
Salisbury, D-Allegheny, said the funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority includes $3.63 million under the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program to support six roadway and streetscaping projects and $2.36 million under the PA Small Water and Sewer Program to fund water, wastewater and stormwater improvements through the district.
“The funding will help ease the burden on taxpayers and allow our municipalities to perform critical repairs and structural upgrades,” Salisbury said. “From repaving our roads to strengthening deteriorating infrastructure so we can better manage stormwater, every dollar of these grants will go to work keeping our communities safer and healthier.”
Salisbury said the funding under the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program includes:
- $750,000 to Hosanna House Inc. for sidewalk, crosswalk and alleyway improvements around Penn Lincoln Green in Wilkinsburg Borough.
- $700,000 to Swissvale Borough for Phase 5 streetscape improvements along Monongahela Avenue.
- $650,000 to East Pittsburgh Borough to reconstruct multiple streets and stabilize a retaining wall in East Pittsburgh Township.
- $529,199 to Wilkins Township to upgrade the traffic signal at the intersection of Brown Avenue and Roland Road.
- $500,000 to Braddock Borough for roadway surface and pedestrian infrastructure improvements along Braddock Avenue.
- $500,000 to Wilkinsburg Borough for a project to reconstruct Graham Boulevard.
The PA Small Water and Sewer Program funding includes:
- $425,000 to Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority for the Pittsburgh water residential meter project.
- $425,000 to Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority for the Pittsburgh water leak reduction project.
- $391,022 to Churchill Borough for stormwater projects.
- $375,000 to Edgewood Borough for Monongahela Way/Nine Mile Run Culvert improvements.
- $300,000 to Wilkinsburg Borough for Wilkinsburg Highland Way and Beacon Hill sanitary forcemain and pump house controls replacement.
- $250,000 to Forest Hills Borough for the Avenue F storm sewer replacement project.
- $200,000 to Wilkins Township for Pennhurst Drive sanitary sewer improvements.
