Funding to preserve our past

Cheers are in order for Braddock’s Battlefield History Center, which recently received a $6,200 state grant – their first from the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission! Thanks to everyone in our community who came together to help make it happen!

In addition, the Frick Art & Historical Center secured a $50,000 PHMC grant, and Rivers of Steel Heritage Corporation received $40,000. Visit this page to read more.

Celebrating Kwanzaa

Our office attended a festive Kwanzaa celebration on Saturday hosted by Community Empowerment Association and had a chance to chat with association founder and CEO T. Rashad Byrdsong, above.

LIFE program helps seniors needing care

The LIFE program is a comprehensive, community-based care program that can help seniors 55 or older receive nursing home-level care while still living at home. The program can provide all medical, social, and long-term support services – from doctor visits, therapies, and prescriptions to meals, transportation, and social activities – under one coordinated plan managed by an interdisciplinary team.

To be eligible for the LIFE, you must:

Be 55 or older.
Meet the level of care needs for a skilled nursing facility or special rehabilitation facility.
Be capable of being served safely in the community.
Live in a ZIP code served by a LIFE program.

Most LIFE participants are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid, but the program also serves people who pay privately for their LIFE services. Visit this page to learn more.

Property Tax/Rent Rebate & Pennie health insurance deadlines this week!

This is a reminder that Dec. 31 is the deadline to apply for a rebate on property taxes or rent you paid in 2024. Visit pa.gov/PTRR to learn more about the program and this page to apply online

Dec. 31 is also the deadline to enroll through Pennie for health insurance coverage starting Jan. 1. Visit this page to read more.
