Dear Neighbors,
Happy Halloween! As many families in our community prepare for Trick-or-Treat tonight, I wanted to share a few pedestrian safety tips to keep in mind. The tips below will make you and your children more visible once the sun sets.
- Carry a flashlight
- Wear glow-stick bracelets or necklaces, or put reflective tape on costumes
- Walk on sidewalks as much as possible and try to stay out of the road
- Never cross the street between parked cars. Instead, cross at dedicated crosswalks or at the corner
Make sure your trick-or-treaters, especially small children, know these rules and understand why they’re important. Have fun, be safe, and enjoy your night!

Governor Shapiro Signs Act 41 into Law
|
I’m proud to share that my legislation, Act 41 of 2025, formerly House Bill 1405, was signed into law by Governor Shapiro on Monday! This new law gives veterans a smoother path toward Pennsylvania Career & Technical Instructor-1 certification, the license needed to teach in CTE fields in our public schools. CTE programs prepare students for careers in manufacturing, healthcare, I.T., agriculture, construction, and more.
Many veterans have significant experience in these types of fields gained during their time in the service. Now they can bring this experience more easily into the classroom. And it means more people can get their teaching license more quickly – an important step toward addressing the teacher shortage we’re experiencing here in PA.

Protecting Our Seniors from Misleading Contracts
|
On Tuesday, the House passed H.B. 1882, a bill I introduced that would require larger, ADA-recommended 16-point font size throughout reverse mortgage contracts and disclosures. The bill would also require branch managers to be licensed mortgage originators, so that they can better guide people in choosing the reverse mortgage that fits their situation.
We say the phrase “read the fine print” because there have always been contracts out there that obscure confusing or exploitative terms by using very small font sizes. This bill would ensure that all terms and disclosures are readable.

Welcoming Guests to the House
|
I’m always thrilled to host guests in the House chamber, and this week I welcomed Sgt. C. Richard Michie II, a recently retired police officer from New Britain, and Jeanise Dimitri, Community Engagement and Public Relations Coordinator for the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology.
