BCCC to establish a police academy, discussing electricity rates, and more!

Dear Neighbor,

I am pleased to share some great news for Bucks County: yesterday, the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission voted unanimously to establish a police academy at Bucks County Community College!

Right now, aspiring police officers from our district have to train at nearby academies, because Bucks didn’t offer one of their own. I’ve been a strong supporter of adding an academy to BCCC because I know that some of the best municipal officers come from the towns they serve. I want young residents from our towns to have the chance to train here and stay here, learning and growing their policing skills in the area that they call home.

The Commission’s vote is the first step in establishing the program, and I couldn’t be more proud to have helped bring this opportunity to you. As a former police officer myself, I’m looking forward to the day the first cohort of trainees starts their journey.

In Service,

Discussing Rising Electricity Rates

This week I hosted a Policy Committee hearing about increasing electricity rates and what can be done to help Pennsylvanians save money. It’s clear you’re concerned about increased utility rates, especially at a time when the cost of living continues to rise. This is a required conversation to find out what we can do to provide much-needed relief to our residents.

Customers experiencing issues with their utility company are encouraged to file a complaint with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission after contacting their utility company to attempt to resolve the issue.

PECO customers concerned about paying their electric bills should look into PECO's Customer Assistance Program - Percentage of Income Payment Plan (CAP-PIPP). Households at or below 150% of the annual Federal Poverty Level can qualify to pay a percentage of their total household income as their monthly PECO bill. Congrats to Warminster VFW and Warminster Women’s Auxiliary!

Last week I had the honor of celebrating the Warminster VFW’s 60th birthday and the Warminster Women’s Auxiliary’s 50th! I am deeply grateful to have been invited to join the celebrations. I’m pictured here awarding the official House citations for each anniversary.

Voting Options this November

November 4th is Election Day, and you have several options for how to make your voice heard. First, make sure you’re registered – you have until October 20th.

You can vote in person at your local polling place; the polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Click here to find out where to vote. If it’s your first time voting at a new polling place, you will need to show a photo ID or your voter registration card to cast your ballot.

If voting in person doesn’t fit your schedule, Pennsylvania also offers safe and secure Vote-By-Mail options. Once you apply, your ballot will be sent to your home. You can fill it out and either drop it in a mailbox -- make sure to allow at least a week for delivery -- or return it in person to your county election office or local drop box location. Get all the details here.

I want to make sure everyone can cast their ballot and be heard in November – and in every election.
