Brian's Briefing for September 5: Our Shred Event is Tomorrow, Resouces for Suicide Prevention Month, and more

Dear Neighbors,

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. According to Prevent Suicide PA, nearly 2,000 Pennsylvanians complete suicide each year. Even more people are impacted when they lose a friend or family member to it.

It can be tough to talk about our own mental health and to ask others about theirs. But checking in on your loved ones, asking how they’re doing, and taking time to notice if you or a friend are acting differently than normal are important first steps to getting support.

If you believe you or someone you love needs crisis support, reach out to these Bucks County resources for help:

  • Crisis Services | Bucks County, PA
  • Suicide & Crisis Lifeline:
    • Call, Text or Chat 988
    • Or call 1-800-273-TALK (8255)
  • National de Prevencion del Suicidio:  1-888-628-9454

Being part of a community means being part of the tough stuff. Let’s all strive to be the lifeline others may need.

We hope to see you there!

In Service,

My Shredding Event is Tomorrow!

Join us tomorrow in Warminster Community Park from 10 a.m. to noon for our fall shredding event! Open to households only – no businesses, please – this event is a great way to dispose of unneeded personal documents and protect your identity. RSVP here.

Cones with Cops

The Warminster Township Police Department held their Cones with Cops event this week in partnership with Dairy Queen. It was a pleasure to see such a great turnout for this event, which gives the township officers the chance to step behind the counter and serve up ice cream to the community.

As a former police officer, I know how important events like this are for building trust and connection between officers and the community. A big thanks to the Warrington Police Department and Dairy Queen for making it happen!

This third installment is about Gerald Shur, Warminster resident and founder of the federal Witness Protection Program. Check out my Facebook page to see our previous videos and to follow for more!

A Visit to the VE Club in Warminster

The Vereinigung Erzgebirge Club is a long-standing cultural landmark in Warminster and a hub for celebrating German heritage. I recently had the chance to take a tour, see a piece of the Berlin wall displayed on their grounds, and learn about their commitment to culture, community, and history.

The club is getting ready for their annual Oktoberfest, happening tomorrow, September 6! If you have the chance, head over for great food, music, and more!

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone at the VE Club for the warm welcome, the engaging conversation, and the wonderful tour around the grounds. Your dedication to preserving culture and building community truly makes a difference.
