Brian's Briefing for August 22: Why fund mass transit? Plus, House Fellowship open for applications!

Dear Neighbors,

I hope you’re enjoying these last few weeks of summer! Whether you head “back to school” as a student, teacher, bus driver, crossing guard, or support staff, I wish you the best for the academic year ahead.

There hasn’t been any movement on the PA budget since my last update, and I know many of you have concerns about funding for school essentials like transit and support services. While I’m disheartened to let you know that we still don’t have answers, I do want you to know that my House colleagues and I are prepared to stand up for these important dollars in Harrisburg as we head into the fall. We all want to be sure that you have access to the critical supports you deserve.

In the meantime, my team and I are always happy to help. Stop by our district office any time for assistance with state-related issues. You can find information about office hours and services we provide on my website.

In Service,

Why Fund Mass Transit?

Video

On Sunday, August 10, the PA House members were called back to Harrisburg to consider and pass a critical piece of legislation to fund mass transit. We’re still waiting for the Senate to act on it. Watch the video above to hear why funding transit is so important to our region.

Voting Options this November

November 4th is Election Day, and you have several options for how to make your voice heard. First, make sure you’re registered – you have until October 20th.

You can vote in person at your local polling place; the polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Click here to find out where to vote. If it’s your first time voting at a new polling place, you will need to show a photo ID to cast your ballot.

If voting in person doesn’t fit your schedule, Pennsylvania also offers safe and secure Vote-By-Mail options. Once you apply, your ballot will be sent to your home. You can fill it out and either drop it in a mailbox -- make sure to allow at least a week for delivery -- or return it in person to your county election office. Get all the details here.

I want to make sure everyone can cast their ballot and be heard in November – and in every election.
