Brian’s Briefing for August 15: Getting ready for college, auto savings for retirees and more!

Dear Neighbors,

The mass transit funding crisis continues. I was hopeful that we wouldn’t reach this point and that a reasonable compromise could be achieved, but it appears that SEPTA will need to go through with its intended service cuts, including reduced schedules on the Warminster Line and the Lansdale/Doylestown Line of SEPTA’s regional rail.

The House passed a funding proposal five times, but the state Senate would not concur. Instead, this week they passed a plan that would raid an account meant for transit capital upgrades, using that money for state roads in rural areas. We remain hopeful that a deal will be reached so these service reductions are short-lived.

College Resource Fair a Success!

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night at William Tennent High School for our College Resource Fair. We had admissions and financial aid experts, as well as representatives from several colleges.

Warminster Night Out

It was great seeing everyone at the Warminster Police National Night Out event this week. Big thank you to the Warminster Township Police Department, Hartsville and Warminster Fire Companies, and Warminster Township Parks and Recreation for their hard work. You do great work! Thank you as always!

Recognizing a Man of the Year

On Wednesday, I had the privilege of presenting a Certificate of Recognition to Dominic Petruzzelli, an Archbishop Wood Alumni, for the extraordinary achievement of being named Atlantic East Man of the Year. Dominic, a senior at Neumann University, was given this recognition for his athleticism and his exemplary academic achievements. Keep up the great work, Dominic — and best of luck with your soccer season!

‘Meet the Coach’

It was a beautiful day for the “meet the coach“ event for the Warminster Spartans Youth Wrestling. It’s refreshing seeing this committed group of parents and youth bond together to help make our community what it is. Keep up the great work! I was accompanied by my wonderful daughter Anna.

Help for Retirees

Every dollar counts for seniors living on a fixed income, and that's why I voted to make sure more retirees receive the support they need. That includes a law that took effect late last year which raised the income limit to $29,906 for retirees to receive a reduced vehicle registration fee of $12 instead of the standard $48. (Please note, veterans benefits are not counted toward your earnings for this program.) You can read more about this program here.

As always, if you have questions, my team and I are ready to help you!

  • We can fill out the paperwork.
  • Get the paperwork to PennDOT.

Extended Office Hours Continue!
