Supporting our first responders
|
I got a little emotional on this one.
As a former police officer and firefighter, I have seen and experienced things that most can’t imagine. It leaves a heavy toll, where some see no other way out but to take their own life. For the families that are left behind, I am proud to join my colleagues in supporting Bryan’s Law.
House Bill 237, aka Bryan’s Law, would provide death benefits for emergency and law enforcement personnel who die as a result of Post-Traumatic Stress Injury.
The bill is named in honor of Bryan F. Gray, a Pennsylvania State Trooper and former Green Beret, who tragically died by suicide due to the impact of his service as a trooper.

Be Cautious with unsolicited election communications
|
The Bucks County Board of Elections is urging residents to stay alert when receiving unsolicited election-related mail, emails, or texts. Recently, a county resident reported receiving an email from a Gmail address titled “BucksCounty Elections.” The email promoted candidates from one political party and encouraged the recipient to apply for a mail-in ballot. This caused confusion for the recipient, who had already applied for a ballot, leading the individual to question if the message was an official communication.
The county wants to make it clear that this email was NOT from the official Board of Elections. While it didn’t appear malicious, it did cause unnecessary concern. The BOE is reminding voters to stay cautious and always verify the source of any election-related communication.
To help avoid confusion and ensure security, the BOE offers these important tips:
- Official BOE emails will only come from “buckscounty.org” or “buckscounty.gov” addresses, never Gmail or similar non-government addresses.
- The BOE will never endorse any candidate or political party.
- If you receive any suspicious communication, do not click any links. Contact the BOE directly at (215) 348-6154 for clarification.

Honoring those who served in Vietnam
|
Saturday was National Vietnam War Veterans Day when we celebrate and thank all the brave men and women who served in the Vietnam War.
Last week, I had the honor of addressing the community at the Warrington Vietnam veterans ceremony.
Though we will forever be in your debt, and though our gratitude will never be enough, know that all Americans are united in their reverence for your selfless service to our great nation.
We also remember those veterans who have passed away, as well as those who served in Vietnam but never returned home. If you are fortunate enough to know one of the heroes who served in the war, be sure to thank them for their service.
We also have Veterans Service Office hours the first Monday of every month at one-hour increments from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with a break for lunch between noon and 1 p.m. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please give our office a call at (215) 323-6997.

I was honored to address the crowd last week during the opening ceremony of an area-wide robotics competition. Ivyland Borough Council Vice Chair Chuck Bristow also attended the event.
Both William Tennent High School’s Robotics Team #6808 and Archbishop Wood Catholic High School’s Robotics’ team participated in the event.
These kids are the future of our scientific community and to see what they are doing at this level should make everyone proud.
