“Republicans control both chambers in Congress and the White House. The GOP is fully responsible for this shutdown. They continue to govern cruelly, cutting SNAP and Medicaid, eliminating tax credits for healthcare, and driving up the costs of essentials like groceries and energy bills for everyday Americans. “As lawmakers, we must never lose sight of our responsibility to lower the temperature around heated disagreements. Political violence is a real and growing threat in our country and when any elected official fails to control their behavior, they, as leaders within their community, give permission to others to do the same – or worse. “If we are truly committed to lowering recidivism in the Commonwealth, then the state investing in setting returning citizens up for success is common sense,” Kinkead, D-Allegheny, said. “If we are unwilling to help these folks get basic documents that many of us take for granted, like IDs and work permits, then we also must admit to our constituents that we do not actually care about preventing crime. “California-based Mainspring Energy is in the growth stage of its company and expects to deliver close to 1,000 jobs to this region, including its first domestic manufacturing positions,” said state Rep. Emily Kinkead, who co-hosted a PA House Majority Policy Committee roundtable on the airport project and represents portions of Allegheny County. “The exciting part of this project is that it will not only create an estimated 300 construction jobs to build their plant adjacent to the airport, but it will also generate more than 600 permanent jobs to manufacture linear generators that can run on numerous gas fuels without flame or spark—and with zero carbon emissions.” Read more
“Food insecurity is more prevalent now than it was during the pandemic, so the federal cuts to SNAP are going to do a tremendous amount of harm to families already struggling to put food on the table, as well as impact our farmers who provide that food,” said Rep. Emily Kinkead, D-Allegheny, and House Chair of the Hunger Caucus. “While the state simply does not have the resources to fill the gap after hundreds of billions of dollars were cut from food programs in Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, there are still actions we can take at the state-level to feed a greater number of Pennsylvanians. As we continue to work to finalize our state’s budget, we still have an opportunity to ensure that Pennsylvania is stepping into the gap as much as possible.” Read more

Emily Kinkead, who co-hosted the event and represents portions of Allegheny County. “Data centers create jobs and economic benefits, but we also heard from energy providers, organized labor, conservationists and the Farm Bureau about the need to be aware of specific issues.” Read more
“We heard directly from stakeholders on the benefit and demand for the Waterfront Tax Credit,” said state Rep. Emily Kinkead, who co-hosted the event and has sponsored legislation to expand waterfront development tax credits. “Right now, the demand for this program has outpaced its availability, and stakeholders detailed how its expansion could help Pennsylvania be a national leader when it comes to delivering economic development along our waterfront properties.” Read more
