READING, March 17 – State Rep. Manuel Guzman today announced that Alvernia and Kutztown universities will receive a combined $70,490 in state funding to support sexual assault prevention and survivor support programs through the It’s On Us PA initiative.
The It’s On Us PA campaign brings together college and university leaders, students, families, and community members to raise awareness about sexual violence, educate students about consent, and empower bystanders to intervene. The campaign also provides support services for survivors.
“Students deserve safe campuses and access to the resources they need,” Guzman said. “This funding will help Alvernia and Kutztown provide critical education, help support survivors, and create safer communities across our county.”
Berks County Grants:
- Alvernia University: $30,490 – supporting campus programs that provide survivor resources and education on sexual assault awareness.
- Kutztown University: $40,000 – funding initiatives to educate students about consent, reporting options, and campus awareness campaigns.
““These programs are critical to empowering students and strengthening safety measures on our campuses,” Guzman added. “I’m proud to support these initiatives that will make a meaningful impact in the lives of college students.”
