Santarsiero & Brennan announce state investment into Doylestown pedestrian accessibility project

DOYLESTOWN, Aug. 7 – State Sen. Steve Santarsiero and state Rep. Tim Brennan, both D-Bucks, announced today $123,176 in state funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Green Light-Go program for traffic-related improvements in Doylestown Township.
The township will use the funding to install accessible pedestrian signal push buttons at three intersections: Butler Avenue and New Britain Road; State Street, Doylestown Hospital Driveway and Progress Drive; and U.S. 202 and Lower State Road.
“I’m proud our state government is investing in making our streets safer, more accessible and pedestrian-friendly,” said Santarsiero. “These improvements to our pedestrian crossings will make it easier to get out and explore Doylestown Township. Making our municipalities more walkable makes them healthier and nicer places to live, work, and visit.”
"We just observed Disability Pride Month in July, a reminder that accessibility isn't just an ideal —it's a practice we must intentionally build into our communities," Brennan said. "Installing accessible pedestrian signals will help people with disabilities, older adults and families with young children navigate these intersections more safely and cause them less anxiety. Investments like this make Doylestown Township a stronger and more welcoming place for everyone."
Green Light-Go grants are provided as reimbursements to municipalities for projects that improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. These projects are funded through the FY 2026–27 budget. Eligible improvements include, but are not limited to, installation of light-emitting diode (LED) technology, traffic signal retiming, special-event traffic planning, traffic signal monitoring, and upgrades to modern signal technologies.
