Boyd celebrates nearly $2.4 million in state grants for local projects

HARRISBURG, Dec. 19 – State Rep. Heather Boyd, D-Delaware, today announced nearly $2.4 million in state grant funding has been approved for sewer upgrade projects in the 163rd Legislative District communities she represents.
“Our local municipalities are working hard to meet the challenges of stormwater flooding, aging infrastructure and a growing population to our water and sanitation systems,” Boyd said. “I am thrilled to see this state funding coming to the district to help our local authorities meet these challenges and make life safer and better for residents. Investing in projects that serve people is what I continue to fight for in Harrisburg.”
Boyd helped to secure funding for the following projects under the Department of Community and Economic Development’s H2O PA and PA Small Water and Sewer programs:
- $213,563 to Aldan Borough for storm sewer system improvements.
- $424,895 to Collingdale Borough to rehabilitate its sanitary sewer system.
- $425,000 to Clifton Heights Borough to replace the deteriorated stormwater management piping that is negatively impacting sidewalks and causing flooding, located in West Madison Avenue between Cherry Street and Springfield Avenue.
Boyd worked with state Rep. Gina Curry to secure the following funds for Upper Darby Township.
- $500,000 to Upper Darby Township for sanitary sewer upgrades to the Cobbs Creek Interceptor.
- $670,932 to Upper Darby Township for stormwater improvements in Drexel Gardens Park.
Boyd also worked with state Rep. Dave Delloso to secure $165,538 in funding for Darby Township for the rehabilitation of 23 manholes located in the township.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority approved the grants today. Funds distributed through the H2O PA Program provide for single-year or multi-year grants to municipalities or municipal authorities to assist with the construction of drinking water, sanitary sewer and storm water projects. Act 54 of 2022 appropriated $205.4 million of American Rescue Plan Act funds to the H2O PA – Water Supply, Sanitary Sewer and Storm Water Projects Program. Funds distributed through the Small Water and Sewer program provide for small water, sewer, and storm system water infrastructure projects. Act 54 of 2022 appropriated $105.6 million of American Rescue Plan Act funds to the PA Small Water and Sewer Program.
