Advocating to create an Office of New Pennsylvanians

I proudly attended a press conference in support of HB 1113, which would create an Office of New Pennsylvanians to support, attract, and retain immigrants in the commonwealth. The bill was proposed by my colleagues Reps. Ismail Smith-Wade-El and Joe Hohenstein.

The Office of New Pennsylvanians would provide much needed support and resources to attract immigrants to our state and keep them here. When this bill reaches the House Chamber, I will be a strong yes!

Taxing billionaires to fund Pennsylvania

Much of our tax system in PA is over a century old. It doesn’t work for our national, international and tech-based economy.

While some of the changes we would need (like changing our Uniformity Clause that currently mandates flat taxing rather than graduated taxing) would mean a constitutional change, we can create new tax and innovative tax structures that address the 21st century.

We can’t keep going back to our working people’s wages, we must tax billionaires fairly!

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program opening delayed

Because of the Republican-led government shutdown, Pennsylvania is being forced to delay LIHEAP—vital home-heating assistance for 300,000 families—by a full month. If you need help heating your home this winter, here's a list of utility companies' assistance programs: https://www.puc.pa.gov/about-the-puc/consumer-education/utility-assistance-programs/
