Working to get SEPTA critical funding

Fund SEPTA NOW

We are just 16 days away from SEPTA cuts and fare hikes. It’s past time our Senators got back to work in Harrisburg and approved state funding.

SEPTA takes nearly 800,000 people to work, school, shopping and back every day. Without this necessary funding, our commutes will be disrupted, billions of dollars in economic impact will be lost and Pennsylvanians' jobs, health and quality of life will suffer.

Even if you don’t ride public transit, it affects you – funding transit means more money in our communities, more people on the job and safer commutes for everyone.

Properly funding SEPTA is an investment in all communities. The PA House Transportation Committee met on Wednesday to discuss and vote on a new bill, H.B. 1788, that will hopefully bridge the gap between the House and the Senate regarding SEPTA funding.

It includes a balanced plan to fund mass transit and road and bridge repairs throughout Pennsylvania that already has the support of the House and combines it with a plan brought forward by the Senate to introduce more oversight and modernization to SEPTA’s services.

The House already passed SEPTA funding four times, while Senate Republicans have done nothing to fund transit, and instead issued demands and conditions. Senate Republican leaders even stated funding transit is something they could live without.

I am hopeful that this bipartisan initiative will swiftly move forward in the legislature so that we can keep our transit lines running effectively and alleviate the stress everyone in Delaware County is feeling right now.

PA Money Match

Keep an eye on your mailbox -- 40,000 Pennsylvanians are receiving letters as part of the PA Money Match program, which returns unclaimed property worth $500 or less automatically. This motion was approved unanimously by the General Assembly and signed by Gov. Josh Shapiro last year.

Confirm your address, and you could receive a check in about 45 days!

Head here or contact my office for help searching for other unclaimed funds of yours that PA Treasury may be holding in safekeeping -- the average claim is worth over $1,000!
