Dear Neighbor,
I was proud to vote for the Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit this week! Under this bill, more than a million working Pennsylvanians could receive up to $2,300 back in their pockets during tax time.
That’s real money to spend how YOU want. This is money for new school clothes, to help pay for day care, for a new set of tires for the car, for that long-overdue family weekend getaway – for whatever you want or need to spend it on.
I voted to give back $600 million of the people’s money to the people. Now, it’s up to the state Senate to do the right thing and pass the Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit.

Passing the Cannabis Health & Safety Act
|
This week, my colleges in the House passed H.B. 1200, also known as the Cannabis Health and Safety Act. Under this bill, we’re treating adults like adults in Pennsylvania.
Right now, people in Delaware County are either traveling to other states to legally buy adult-use cannabis or they’re risking their health and risking arrest by going to one of the unregulated vape or smoke shops.
It’s time for PA to join the modern world and legalize adult-use cannabis – but do it in the best way possible, learning from what other states have done and innovating a way to have the Keystone State lead the way!
The Cannabis Health & Safety Act gets it done and will generate more than $2.2 billion of revenue in the first two years and steady revenue for years to come to help pay for the things PA needs.
Instead of a smoke or vape shop on every corner, we’ll have a publicly owned, publicly accountable system that uses our existing Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores as the retail shops. Sales are strictly limited to adults 21+, advertising is regulated, and kid-friendly packaging is banned.
We’ll also have locally owned-and-operated small businesses for on-site consumption, make sure people are protected if they choose adult-use cannabis, and trust our police to determine impairment.
|
It’s time for a serious, controlled plan to bring us into the modern world! The bill now moves to the Senate before it can go to Gov. Shapiro’s desk. Urge our PA Senators to do the right thing and pass this bill!

Delivering for you in Harrisburg
|
This week, my House Democratic colleagues and I passed several important bills that will help our neighbors and improve our communities:
We updated the state’s Equal Pay Law to prohibit employers from paying workers less because of their gender, race or ethnicity and protect employees from retaliation in any wage discrimination matters. (HB 630)
We protected tenants by requiring landlords to pay displaced tenants a relocation payment equal to six months’ rent if the rental property has code violations that require the condemnation of the property, or the property is deemed unfit for human habitation. (HB 734)
We supported veterans by expanding the Pennsylvania National Guard incentive program to include chaplains, health care officers, JAG officers, and medical officers (HB 1102) and by requiring the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs to oversee the design of a “veteran-owned business” logo and issue licenses for use by veteran-owned businesses. (HB 993)
We protected consumers by prohibiting fees for consumers who choose to pay by mail or receive a paper bill. (HB 81)
We protected our health care workers by creating the Health Care Workplace Violence Prevention Act, which requires a health facility to establish protocols and guidance on programs to prevent workplace violence. (HB 926)
