GLEN MILLS, Sept. 24 – State Reps. Lisa Borowski and Leanne Krueger will host a ceremony Thursday to dedicate a portion of Pennsylvania Route 352 in Edgmont and Middletown townships as the Chief Joseph J. Montgomery Jr. Memorial Highway.
Joseph J. Montgomery Jr., who also served as chief of Edgmont Fire Co., passed away while on duty with the Delaware County Park Police on Sept. 29, 2023, at 54 years of age. Montgomery also served with the Rocky Run Fire Co. and Main Line Health EMS among many other roles during his lifelong career in public service.
The event is open to the public and will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 1350 Middletown Road in Glen Mills, PA. In addition to Borowski and Krueger, speakers will include Mike Johnson, assistant fire chief and EMS manager of Rocky Run Fire Co., and two of Montgomery’s children, Allison and Erin Montgomery.
The lawmakers are co-sponsors of legislation (H.B. 459) introduced in January to ensure that Montgomery’s lifelong dedication to service is remembered as a legacy by the community for years to come.
