Borowski announces state funding for five local projects

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Dec. 19 – Following advocacy from state Rep. Lisa Borowski, D-Delaware, the Commonwealth Financing Authority this week awarded funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to support five projects in the 168th Legislative District.

“This is welcome support for essential township infrastructure projects and for local cultural organizations. This grant funding will help bring to fruition long-planned projects impacting quality of life issues and help support local treasures,” Borowski said. “While the funding categories couldn’t be more different – water and sewer projects versus arts and culture projects – both types of efforts are essential to happy, healthy communities. These are sound investments into our region’s future.”

The grants come from three different categories of ARPA funding:

  1. H2O PA - Water Supply, Sanitary Sewer and Storm Water Program:
  • Middletown Township Sewer Authority
    • $1.5 million for the Heilbron-Knowlton Pump Station Upgrade Project
  1. Small Water and Sewer Program:
  • Middletown Township Sewer Authority
    • $408,000 for the Pump Station Back-up Power Project
  • Newtown Township
    • $227,500 for the Sawmill Road Stormwater Management Project
  1. Arts and Culture Recovery Program:
  • Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation (Edgmont Twp.)
    • $10,309 to offset lost revenue for the historic site organization
  • Wayne Art Center (Radnor Twp.)
    • $42,929 to offset lost revenue for the art organization

Established in 2004 as an agency of the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, CFA administers Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages.  

Act 54 of 2022 appropriated from ARPA funding a total of $205.4 million to the H2O PA program, $105.6 million to the Small Water and Sewer Program, and $15 million to the Arts and Culture Recovery Program.
