Borowski: Delaware County public service organizations receive $100,000 in state funding

HARRISBURG, Feb. 3 – Several organizations that provide public services to residents of the 168th Legislative District, including four fire companies, are recent recipients of state grants, state Rep. Lisa Borowski, D-Delaware, announced today.

Borowski secured the funding from a grant program administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development as one of her first acts as the region’s state representative.

“Each of these organizations will use this funding to enhance their offerings to the public,” said Borowski. “These organizations are impacting and engaging with the communities they serve on so many levels, and this funding will support those efforts.”

  • $20,000 to Radnor Fire Company, led by Executive Director Brian J. Zimmerman, to conduct training for Emergency Medical Technicians.

  • $20,000 to Rocky Run Fire Company, led by President Sean Miller, to hold fire extinguisher training for local residents.

  • $20,000 to Edgmont Fire Company, led by Assistant Chief Ron Gravina, to make facility enhancements, including the addition of a community space for public use.

  • $20,000 to Newtown Square Fire Company, led by President Christina T. Heffernan, to implement enhancements to its prevention and education programs.

  • $12,000 to Newtown Square Library, led by Director Arlene Caruso, to make facility enhancements, including the addition of a community meeting room for public use.

  • $8,000 to Newtown Square Business Association, led by President Paul Seligson, to implement business district enhancements.
