HARRISBURG, Nov. 18 — State Rep. Aerion Abney, D-Allegheny, announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority awarded $920,000 today to invest in projects that will benefit Pittsburgh’s economy.
Grants from the Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund will fund 11 projects in Abney’s district:
“These are worthwhile projects that will benefit Pittsburgh in many different ways – from housing opportunities to community services to recreation and the arts,” Abney said. “These are the kinds of investments that will ensure that Pittsburgh remains a great place to live and work.”
Established in 2004 by the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, the GEDTF appropriates funds from gaming revenue to invest in economic development.
