Warren honors state champion C.R. North cross country team at Capitol

HARRISBURG, May 1 – State Rep. Perry Warren hosted the Council Rock High School North boys’ cross country team at the Capitol Wednesday, in honor of the team's 2023 PIAA Class AAA championship.

The members of the team and its coaches, Dave Marrington and Rob Rogers, were honored with House citations and recognized in both the House and Senate.

State Rep. Kristin Marcell, R-Bucks, participated, as well. The team also met with state Sens. Steve Santarsiero, D-Bucks, and Frank Farry, R-Bucks.

On Nov. 4 in Hershey, Council Rock North won the 11th state championship for the Council Rock boys’ cross country program, the third for coach Marrington and the second since the high school split between CR North and CR South in 2003. In a true team effort, Council Rock North won with 134 points, edging La Salle College High School by two points.

“Both my parents and all my kids graduated from Council Rock schools, and one of my kids ran cross country there. Council Rock North and its predecessor Council Rock High School have a long and storied history of success in cross country, and it is great to welcome and honor this team,” Warren said. “Congratulations to the 2023 edition of the team for adding to Council Rock’s distance running legacy.”

Warren represents the 31st Legislative District in Bucks County, comprised of Lower Makefield, Newtown Borough, Newtown Township, Upper Makefield and Yardley.
