Warren announces grants for local fire and EMS companies

YARDLEY, Feb. 22 – State Rep. Perry Warren announced grants totaling over $78,000 to support the fire and EMS companies in the 31st Legislative District.

The following funding was awarded from the state’s Fire and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program:

  • Newtown EMS Inc., $15,000.
  • Newtown Fire Association, $16,368.42.
  • Yardley Makefield Emergency Unit, $15,000.
  • Yardley Makefield Fire Company, $16,951.99.
  • Upper Makefield Fire Company, $15,000.

“This basic funding helps keep the lights on to allow our fire and EMS workers and volunteers to perform their life preserving services,” Warren said.  “In his annual budget address Gov. Josh Shapiro proposed significant new funding for fire and EMS services, and I support the increased funding.”

Act 91 of 2020 authorized the Fire Company and Medical Services Grant Program until June 30.

Recently, Gov. Josh Shapiro proposed increasing the program’s funding to $60 million.

Warren represents the 31st Legislative District, which is comprised of Lower Makefield Township, Newtown, Newtown Township, Upper Makefield Township and Yardley in Bucks County.
