Borowski: $500,000 awarded for Radnor Trail extension project

RADNOR, Oct. 7 – Rep. Lisa Borowski and Sen. Amanda Cappelletti, both D-Delaware, today announced $500,000 in state funding awarded to Radnor Township to support its ongoing project to extend the multi-use Radnor Trail. The legislators worked together to help secure the state funds.

The project centers around construction of about a half mile of trail from Enck Park near South Radnor Chester Road to connect it to I-476 and a pedestrian culvert. It will also add to the trail ADA access, landscaping, and other related site improvements.

The Shapiro administration and state department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced the new funding in a joint news release. According to the release, the Radnor Trail project is one of 306 recreation and conservation projects across 60 counties that will receive funding in this round of grants, aiming to help communities improve their public outdoor recreation spaces.

“Public recreation spaces are integral in building a community where our neighbors can cultivate their mental and physical well-being by getting outdoors, getting active, and connecting with one another. Every Pennsylvanian deserves access to well-maintained, safe outdoor spaces like the Radnor Trail. I’m proud to support this funding that will deliver on that promise,” said Cappelletti.

“I’ve been working on the Radnor Trail for a long time, so it’s really exciting to see it continue to take shape,” said Borowski, who was involved in the trail project from its inception while serving on the Radnor Board of Commissioners. “This funding brings us another step closer to having the completed trail our community has been waiting for. I know how much people are looking forward to being able to use it, and I’m glad we could help make that happen.”

The funding was awarded from the Community Conservation Partnership Program, which supports recreational improvements, natural resource conservation, and community revitalization efforts across the commonwealth.
