Resources for those impacted by Friday's plane crash

Friday was a tragic, frightening and difficult day for our community. But it also showed our resiliency and the commitment of neighbors helping neighbors in service together.

If you have been affected by the airplane crash or know someone who has, I wanted to send a list of resources that might be helpful to you.  

If you need anything, please call our office and we will help. We are at 215-342-6340 on Castor Ave. and 215- 543-6755 on Frankford Ave.

For anyone who is having a hard time coping with this tragedy, the city's Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disability Services, 215-685-6440, and PATH (People Acting To Help), 215-728-4600, are offering mental health services to those in Northeast Philadelphia.

Family Promise of Philadelphia can assist people who have been displaced by this tragedy and Feast of Justice is helping with local food needs. Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Greater Philadelphia as well as the Catholic Social Services Northeast Family Service Center are also providing support services.

As the investigation continues there are multiple road closures and public service impacts. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and can find further information at phila.gov/ready. SEPTA Customer Service can be reached at 215-580-7800 or at septa.org. 

Finally, if you think you discover what you believe may be debris from the plane crash, do not touch it. Call 9-1-1 right away to report its location.

Northeast Philadelphia is a community of neighbors who care for one another, and Friday’s tragedy brought that out in remarkable ways. We remain untied in prayer for all who have been impacted and in gratitude for the brave first responders who keep us safe.
