ALLENTOWN, April 6 – State Rep. Peter Schweyer, D-Lehigh, is alerting local veterans his monthly support program will be held on Friday, April 21 at his district office in Allentown. A representative from the American Legion will be available for appointments at Schweyer’s district office, 1501 Lehigh St., Suite 206. Appointments are available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m . A service officer will be available to assist veterans and their families with benefits and services available to them. The representative also will be available to discuss pensions and other compensation, as well as education, health care and death benefits. ALLENTOWN, March 17 – State Rep. Peter Schweyer will host an unclaimed property search event on Thursday, March 30 at his district office for residents of the 134th District. “Currently, billions of dollars in unclaimed property like checks and safety deposit boxes is being held by the Pennsylvania Treasury and it needs to be returned to the rightful owners,” said Schweyer, D-Lehigh. “I encourage anyone who thinks they might have unclaimed property to give my office a call and find out if there’s a pot of gold waiting for you.” According to Schweyer, unclaimed property may include: Closed bank accounts. Uncashed checks, including paychecks. Lost stocks and bonds. Contents of safe deposit boxes. Proceeds from the demutualization of insurance companies. Expired gift cards/gift certificates. No appointments are needed for the event, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1501 Lehigh St., Suite 206 . However, residents are encouraged to first call his district office at 610-791-6270 and a member of Schweyer’s staff will help complete the search over the phone. Schweyer also cautions residents to ignore any solicitations that offer to conduct searches of the database for a fee, as his office can help conduct searches for free. Read more
