Schweyer: $1.3M secured for area pedestrian, water replacement projects

HARRISBURG, Jan. 21 – State Rep. Peter Schweyer announced today that $1.3 million in state funding has been awarded to support several local infrastructure projects.

“Safer crosswalks for pedestrians, enhancing connectivity to Allentown’s parks and green spaces and improving the local infrastructure, this funding will go a long way to addressing major needs in our community,” Schweyer said. “I’m proud to work with Senator Miller and local partners to secure funding for projects like these which help strengthen our community.”

Schweyer said the funding under the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program includes:

  • City of Allentown: $800,000 for the MLK Trail Phase 2 construction project.
  • City of Allentown: $106,329 for the construction of a new sidewalk along Dixon St. and S. Delaware St.

The PA Small Water and Sewer Program funding includes:

  • Salisbury Township: $411,144 to replace the water main along Linda Lane and Gail Ave.

“Strong communities start with strong infrastructure,” Senator Nick Miller said. “These investments will deliver safer roads, reliable water systems, and key projects such as Phase II of the MLK Trail extension, water and sewage upgrades in Salisbury Township, and new sidewalks along Dixon and S. Delaware Streets in Allentown. I am proud to continue building a healthier, safer future for our neighbors.”
