Rep. Peter G. Schweyer May 5, 2026 | 3:43 PM
State Reps. Mike Schlossberg, Peter Schweyer, Jeanne McNeill and Ana Tiburcio and state Sens. Lisa Boscola and Nick Miller offered the following statement on the error by Lehigh County leadership in sending incorrect vote-by-mail ballots for the May 19 primary election.
“At a time when the integrity of our elections is under constant attack from extremists who want to end vote-by-mail the last thing we need to do is hand them more rhetorical ammunition courtesy of this careless error by our county leadership.
“This mistake must be fixed immediately. Voters who applied to vote-by-mail in the May primary election must get their correct ballots as quickly as possible, and it is our sincere hope that the county will take every possible action to do just that.
“Furthermore, county leadership must take responsibility and explain how this happened and how they will make sure this never happens again. We need a solid accounting to make sure every voter’s ballot counts and we are ready to explore every legal remedy to assure the residents of Lehigh County that their vote is protected.
“This error could be disenfranchising to the people of Lehigh County. We all deserve better.”
Pennsylvania's vote-by-mail law was passed in 2019. Sen. Boscola was the prime sponsor of the enabling legislation in the state Senate.
