Sanchez-led Legislative Audit Advisory Commission accepts audit of General Assembly’s 2025 financial statements

HARRISBURG, Feb. 4 – State Rep. Ben Sanchez, chair of the Legislative Audit Advisory Commission, said the commission met Tuesday morning and approved the independent audit of the General Assembly’s finances for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025.

Sanchez noted that the commission’s work helps improve transparency, allowing the public to see how the Legislature manages their tax dollars.

“Pennsylvanians should have confidence in the financial reporting of their tax dollars,” Sanchez said. “This audit demonstrates that the General Assembly is careful with public funds and remains committed to openness and fiscal responsibility.”

The audit, conducted by independent accounting firm Boyer & Ritter LLC, found a $307.5 million reserve across both chambers and all legislative agencies and departments at the close of the fiscal year.

The LAAC oversees this annual financial statement audit, as required by Article VIII, Section 10 of the Pennsylvania Constitution.

In addition to Sanchez, commission members include state Rep. Jim Struzzi, R-Indiana, state Sens. Maria Collett, D-Montgomery, and Chris Gebhard, R-Berks/Lancaster/Lebanon, and public members Peter Barsz, Ira Weiss, Mark Longietti, and Joshua Wilson.

A copy of the audit, past audits and more information about the commission is available at https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/cteeInfo/laac.cfm.

Sanchez represents the 153rd Legislative District, which includes Rockledge and parts of Abington and Upper Dublin in Montgomery County.
