Rep. Sanchez applauds family health center ahead of grand opening

HARRISBURG, July 6 – Rep. Ben Sanchez, D-Montgomery said he is thrilled to support the grand opening of the Visiting Nurse Association Family Health Center at North Hills, a significant development in bringing back accessible health care services for all ages to the North Hills community and beyond.

The new family health center, which aims to eliminate barriers to care and connect patients with an experienced health care team offering low-cost, high-quality primary care, health education and connections to public benefits, will host its grand opening at noon July 11 at the North Hills Community Center, 212 Girard Ave., Glenside, PA 19038.

Sanchez said the VNA Family Health Center at North Hills will bring a wide range of services back to the community and surrounding area, including annual well visits for infants, children, teens, adults and seniors, sick visits, physical exams for school, camp, sports, work or driver's exams, as well as specialized care for chronic conditions like diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure, among other services.

Patients can also benefit from medication management support, discussions on lifestyle changes, and connections to public benefits and supports through VNA's Personal Navigator Program. The center also provides access to behavioral health services and area specialists, ensuring comprehensive care. According to Sanchez, with 24/7 on-call services, patients can rest assured knowing their health care needs are attended to promptly.

The VNA Family Health Center at North Hills will fill a much-needed void in accessible health services when the community’s last health clinic closed its doors a few years ago,” he said.

“After the old health center’s closing, I received numerous calls urging for the restoration of services,” Sanchez said. “It really stuck with me, knowing that this is a community where, for some members, 3 miles to the closest hospital may as well be a hundred miles. That’s why when residents called again during the pandemic, my staff and I rushed to get a vaccine clinic set up in this very location.

“This is a unique community that in some part does not have access to transportation to get to these other locations where medical care is available. The closing of the health clinic also left a hole in this community that needed to be filled.  With the growing families and aging adults that need care close to home, this health care facility will be an incredible asset to both North Hills and the surrounding area.  I am extremely thankful to the VNA for wholeheartedly committing to the needs of the community.”

The VNA Family Health Center at North Hills accepts most major medical assistance HMOs, Medicare, private insurance plans, and offers low-cost quality care options for self-pay patients. This commitment to affordability ensures that healthcare services remain accessible to all members of the community.
