Rozzi, Schwank announce $1.7 million loan to Mount Penn Borough Municipal Authority

Rozzi, state lawmakers announce grants totaling more than $40K for Berks County museum, history center

HARRISBURG, March 4 – Berks County lawmakers Reps. Mark Rozzi and Tom Caltagirone and Sen. Judy Schwank announced today that a grant of $33,842 has been approved for the Foundation for the Reading Public Museum and a grant of $7,922 has been approved for the Berks History Center through the Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program. Rozzi offers free CPR course for residents of the 126th District

READING, Feb. 27 – State Rep. Mark Rozzi is partnering with local emergency medical responders to offer a free CPR course for residents of the 126 th Legislative District. The HeartSaver CPR course will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 16 at Berks Technical Institute, 2205 Ridgewood Road, Wyomissing. “This course has attracted a great deal of interest in past years, and I’m pleased to be able to make it available again,” said Rozzi, D-Berks. “This is a great chance for community members to learn valuable skills that could save a life during an emergency.” The course is free, but attendees can obtain a certification card for $22 if desired. Rozzi, IM ABLE Foundation present adaptive bike to community member

(Jan 24, 2020)

WYOMISSING, Jan. 24 – State Rep. Mark Rozzi joined the IM ABLE Foundation to present an adaptive bike to a community member today. Rozzi and Chris Kaag, founder of IM ABLE, presented the bike to Steve Kreitz, of Wernersville, who lost his leg in a fishing accident. The IM Able Foundation works to remove obstacles that prevent people with disabilities from being physically active, using grants, donations and sponsorships to provide equipment to people with physical or cognitive challenges. “I’ve been proud to support the IM Able Foundation’s great work to make sure individuals with disabilities have access to often expensive equipment that can help them remain active and healthy,” said Rozzi, D-Berks. “I look forward to see what Steve can accomplish with the help of this bike.” Kaag added: “Since he started coming to the IM ABLE Foundation, Steve has been motivated to achieve more than he ever thought he would be able to do after he lost his leg. He’s such a worthwhile grant candidate. Rozzi to co-host training sessions on preventing child sexual abuse

READING, Jan. 17 – State Rep. Mark Rozzi invites community members to attend a four-session training workshop to help adults learn how they can protect children from sexual abuse. “Parents in the Know,” a free program to be offered by Safe Berks, will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Feb. 4, 11, 19 and 25 at the Muhlenberg Township Building, 210 S. George St. Rozzi is co-hosting the program along with the Muhlenberg Township Police Department. “This training program is a great way for parents and other adults to learn how they help prevent child sexual abuse. Those who participate will learn how to better ask questions and how to intervene in a situation when necessary,” said Rozzi, D-Berks. “We all have a responsibility to protect children, and this training series will help empower adults to look out for children in the community.” Anyone interested in attending should RSVP to Rozzi’s office at 610-921-8921. Rozzi, Schwank announce computer science grants for Muhlenberg, Wyomissing school districts

(Jan 17, 2020)

READING, Jan. 17 – State Rep. Mark Rozzi and state Sen. Judy Schwank, both D-Berks, applauded two area school districts on being awarded PAsmart grants. Gov. Tom Wolf today announced $5.7 million in PAsmart Targeted grants to expand computer science classes and teacher training to 163 school districts, charter schools and intermediate units across the state. Muhlenberg and Wyomissing Area school districts were each awarded $35,000. “We live in a digital world, and computer science education is a necessity,” Rozzi said. “I applaud these districts for working to expand this valuable training, so that more students will be well prepared for the future.” Schwank added: “We need to do all that we can to ensure our students successfully transition to higher education or enter a workforce that increasingly relies on computer science skills. This funding will allow Wyomissing and Muhlenberg school districts to better prepare their students.” The PAsmart Targeted grants are used to help schools introduce and expand computer science programming and to provide educators from pre-kindergarten through grade 12 with training to teach computer science. The 163 new Targeted grant awardees have prioritized expanding access to computer science for underrepresented students, such as students of color, girls, low-income students and students in rural communities.
