Subcommittee on Developing Issues & Oversight

HARRISBURG, Oct. 29 – Making sure emerging issues get the attention they deserve, PA House Majority Policy Chairman Ryan Bizzarro (D-Erie) has tapped Rep. Regina Young (D-Philadelphia, Delaware) to chair the newly created Developing Issues and Oversight subcommittee.

The Subcommittee on Developing Issues and Oversight will focus on issues directly impacting citizens, local economies and state infrastructure that require legislative action before they cause widespread problems. More specifically, the subcommittee will convene hearings and roundtable discussions on topics that include technology and governance policy, economic and workforce disruption and climate and infrastructure resilience.

“I am honored to chair this new subcommittee, and I thank Chairman Bizzarro for asking me to take the lead. This new subcommittee is all about tackling the issues that matter most to the wallets, jobs and communities across Pennsylvania,” Young said. “We will hear from real people to address real challenges like new technology changing the job market and making sure our state infrastructure can handle anything. We will work to build a stronger, more secure future for every family in our commonwealth.”

Young was first elected to the Pennsylvania House to represent the 185th legislative district in 2020. She also currently serves as Secretary on the Appropriations Committee, Subcommittee Chair of the Southeast Democratic Delegation and Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus, Vice Chair of the House Tourism, Recreation and Economic Development Committee and is a standing member of several other House committees.

“I created this subcommittee as a direct response to the critical challenges and opportunities facing Pennsylvanians every day. By focusing on these specific issues, we are establishing a dedicated platform to develop forward-thinking policies that will strengthen our local economies and infrastructure, regulate emerging technologies and ensure job stability,” Bizzarro said. “Rep. Young is a dedicated public servant eager to dive into these issues, and I look forward to her leadership on the committee.”
